Local Network

Employers can feel comfortable knowing their employees are benefiting from our comprehensive network. Our network includes the academic, advanced care, and specialty hospitals of UPMC as well as community hospitals, cancer centers, physician practices, behavioral health programs, and long-term care facilities.

UPMC Heath Plan’s network of more than 80 hospitals and more than 7,500 physicians makes up one of the largest and most diverse teams of health care professionals in the region. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), a nonprofit organization that evaluates managed care organizations, has accredited UPMC Health Plan with an “Excellent” rating. It is our longstanding partnership with the health care professionals and hospitals in our network that allows us to provide an outstanding program of integrated care
and consistent high-quality service to the people of Western Pennsylvania.

National Network

For employers who have facilities outside Western Pennsylvania, we als ooffer a system of dependable care and services through our national network. Members who work for Pennsylvania employers but live or workoutside the Health Plan’s regular service area can get seamless routine care at in-network rates through our partnerships with Private Healthcare Systems (PHCS) and Medical Mutual of Ohio (MMO). PHCS has a network of nearly 450,000 providers and 4,000 facilities across the country. MMO serves our Ohio members through its more than 200 hospitals and 20,000 physicians.

Assist America

A unique global emergency services program, Assist America arranges for medical services and clears many of the obstacles caused by emergencies when members travel 100 miles or more away from home for less than 90 days. Assist America provides immediate connections
to doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, and other services, including medical referrals, evacuations, repatriation, and more.
