UPMC Health Plan earned the award for “Highest Member Satisfaction among Commercial Health Plans in Pennsylvania” in 2011, according to a study on member experience by J.D. Power and Associates, a global marketing information company that represents the voice of the customer.
The Health Plan ranked above 10 other health insurers in the highly competitive Pennsylvania region. The measurement factors included information and communication, approval processes, provider choice, customer service, and three others.

“Excellent” Accreditation from NCQA
UPMC Health Plan maintains an “Excellent” accreditation—the highest available—from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its commercial HMO and point-of-service plan, its Medicaid HMO, and its Medicare HMO and PPO products. The NCQA also awarded UPMC Health Plan its prestigious “Recognizing Innovation in Multicultural Health Care Award.”
