Michael Culyba, MD

Michael Culyba, MD, is vice president of Medical Affairs for UPMC Health Plan. In this role, Dr. Culyba is responsible for the clinical aspects of all quality improvement and medical management activities. In addition, as Medical Director for UPMC for You, the Health Plan's Medical Assistance program, Dr. Culyba is responsible for this program's clinical success. Dr. Culyba practiced general internal medicine for 15 years and was active in hospital and medical staff administrative functions, particularly those dealing with quality improvement and managed care activities.

Dr. Culyba received his BA in Chemistry from Washington and Jefferson College and his MD from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. He did his residency at Northwestern University, Evanston Hospital, and served as Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy for three years.
