Are you worried about the growing number of overweight children in your community? If so, you can help do something about it through We Can! Look below for two resources that you can use.
More than 100 individuals representing a variety of organizations registered for the We Can! Pittsburgh Regional Training event that was held on April 27-28, 2010, at the Marriott Pittsburgh City Center Hotel. This 2-day interactive training provided an overview of the We Can! program, tips from leaders in the field who have implemented the program, instruction on each of the four We Can! curricula, and networking opportunities for community members concerned about the growing problem of overweight children.
Participants represented many different types of organizations, including hospitals, schools, after-school programs, community centers, public health departments, government organizations, youth-serving organizations, parks and recreation departments, and health insurance companies.

Two We Can! resources that communities can use:
1. Online Training – We Can! Energize Our Families: Parent Program
This condensed, yet information-rich, online version of the Parent Program training provides an A-Z guide on running the program. Registered dietitians and certified health education specialists (CHES) may apply for continuing education credits (2 hours for dietitians and 3 hours for CHES).
2. Reaching the Media: A Toolkit for We Can! Communities
This downloadable toolkit provides background information, pointers, and examples of both materials and ways to build bridges with the media. This allows community sites to get the word out about their We Can! programming.
