Interactive weight management program introduced

web

UPMC Health Plan has introduced an online program called GO, SLOW, WHOA that is designed to help members make the healthiest selections possible when they go to the grocery store.

Foods in the GO group are low in calories and high in nutrients. Members can “GO” with these foods because they are healthy. Examples of foods in the GO group are:

  • carrots
  • dried or canned beans
  • light yogurt

Foods designated as SLOW are high in nutrients but have more calories. Members should be careful about how much of these foods they eat. Examples are:

  • pasta
  • bread
  • low-fat granola

Foods in the WHOA group are high in calories. Members should eat only a small amount of foods in this group. Examples are:

  • french fries
  • hot dogs
  • sugary cereal

If your UPMC Health Plan patients are looking for a practical guide to healthy eating, consider directing them to upmchealthplan.com.
