Pittsburgh Business Group on Health

The Pittsburgh Business Group on Health (PBGH) held its Annual Symposium in early September. One of the region’s premiere health care conferences, the Annual Symposium brings national health care thought leaders to Pittsburgh and spotlights innovative, results-oriented benefits strategies. Diane P. Holder, UPMC Health Plan president, spoke at the conference.

The theme of this year’s event was “Shaping the Future: Innovative Solutions for Today’s Health Care Challenges.”

Ms. Holder’s presentation focused on the challenges facing the health care industry today, which include an aging population and rising rates of obesity, diabetes, and depression. Ms. Holder also focused on what UPMC Health Plan is doing to address those challenges, primarily with its MyHealth integrated programs.

PBGH is an employer-led, non-profit coalition of large, mid-size, and small organizations representing various business segments, including private and public employers, government, and academia. PBGH represents more than 60 organizations, over 800,000 covered lives, and more than $3 billion in health care costs.
