Important benefit changes

The following benefit changes will take effect January 1, 2008:
 
UPMC for Kids has contracted with a new vision company — OptiCare Managed Vision — to provide vision benefits, effective January 1, 2008. This change has no effect on your child’s vision benefits. Starting on December 21, 2007, you can call OptiCare toll-free at
1-866-921-7965 (TTY number is 1-800-361-2629) to locate a vision provider near you or to check your child’s benefits. OptiCare has a large network of vision providers available to UPMC for Kids members.

OptiCare’s hours of operation are Monday through Friday from
8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
 
Your child’s UPMC for Kids vision coverage includes visits for routine eye exams and glasses. For these services, you need to make an appointment with a participating provider within the OptiCare network. If your child needs to see a doctor for a vision-related medical need, please refer to the UPMC for Kids Provider Directory to find a participating specialist near you.
