Commitment to quality
At UPMC for Kids, the quality of health care our members receive is very important to us. Every year, we set goals to improve the quality of care and service we provide our members and to promote hospital safety. The Health Plan’s website, upmchealthplan.com, provides links to sites that contain hospital quality and safety information. Select “About Us” on the homepage. Then select “Quality and Safety” to find links to the topics below as well as a sampling of results specific to our network hospitals. Hospital Compare is a tool created by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Hospital Quality Alliance (HQA) to promote reporting on hospital quality of care. Joint Accreditation of Health Care Organzations (JCAHO) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that evaluates the quality and safety of care for health care organizations, including hospitals. The Leapfrog Group is a consortium of U.S. companies dedicated to reducing preventable medical mistakes and improving the quality and affordability of health care. Keep in mind that the hospitals cannot be judged only by scores. Talk to your physician if you have questions. If you would like more information about UPMC Health Plan’s Quality Improvement Program or a paper copy of the website information, please contact Member Services at 1-800-650-8762. TTY users should call 1-800-361-2629. |
