Question: “My doctor referred me to a specialist. How do I know if the specialist participates in the UPMC for Life Specialty Plan network?” Answer: If you want to know if a specialist is part of the UPMC for Life Specialty Plan network, you have three ways to check. First, you can look for the physician’s name in the Provider Directory that was sent to you in your Welcome Kit. Second, you can visit our website to “Find a Provider.” Simply enter the name of the physician to see if he or she is in the UPMC for Life Specialty Plan network. Your third option, as always, is to call your Health Care Concierge at 1-800-818-8762. Your concierge can quickly determine if the specialist you asked about is in our Specialty Plan network. If you are a Specialty Plan member and your specialist is in our network, you do not need a referral, but you will be required to pay a copayment at the time of your visit.
