Think before you eat

Think

Before you rip open that bag of chips, visit UPMC Health Plan’s new online tool, GO, SLOW, WHOA — a program designed to help you make the healthiest selections possible.

Foods in the GO group are low in calories and high in nutrients. You can “GO” with these foods because they are healthy. Examples of foods in the GO group are:

  • carrots
  • tuna
  • light yogurt

Foods designated as SLOW are high in nutrients but have more calories. Families should be careful about how much of these foods they eat. Examples are:

  • pasta
  • bread
  • low-fat granola

Foods in the WHOA group are high in calories. Families should eat only a small amount of foods in this group. Examples are:

  • French fries
  • hot dogs
  • sugary cereal
