Have questions about a chronic condition or surgical procedure?

Hospital Advisor

Emmi® can help

If you want to be in control of your health, you’ll need some information and education. Take a first important step by visiting Emmi, an online audio “tour guide.” Emmi is available to all UPMC Health Plan members through MyHealth OnLine at upmchealthplan.com. Emmi is not yet available for UPMC for Life and UPMC for You members, but it will be soon.

Emmi allows you to research and obtain detailed information related to chronic conditions and specific surgical procedures. Emmi can provide information about the risks associated with asthma, depression, COPD, diabetes, coronary artery disease, heart failure, hypertension, and low back pain. Emmi can also help you learn about hundreds of surgical procedures.

Using this interactive online tool, you can successfully prepare for surgical procedures and know the risks, treatments, and possible outcomes associated with your chronic condition.

Emmi is easy to use and allows you to start and stop the session at any time, in the privacy of your own home. Each session (about 15 to 20 minutes) helps answer the most commonly asked questions about specific procedures and conditions. The “print” option, available at the end of each session, summarizes the information in a printer-friendly version for you to take to your next medical appointment.

Educating yourself about your chronic condition or upcoming surgical procedure will help you relax and be more in control and at ease with managing your health care.

Take an Emmi "tour" to learn more about specific medical conditions and procedures.
