Ohio Valley General Hospital Joins UPMC Health Plan Network

PITTSBURGH (October 21, 2004) - UPMC Health Plan and Ohio Valley General Hospital of McKees Rocks have reached an agreement that adds Ohio Valley General to the Health Plan's growing network of contracted facilities and physicians.

Effective immediately, Ohio Valley General will be a participating provider for UPMC Health Plan's commercial products. Ohio Valley General is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit acute care hospital with nearly 300 physicians in 36 medical specialties.

"The Health Plan's agreement is good news for UPMC Health Plan members who live in the western suburbs," said Diane P. Holder, UPMC Health Plan chief executive officer.

Ohio Valley General delivers state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatments to nearly 22,000 patients per year. The hospital is located at 25 Heckel Road in Kennedy Township, near the intersection of I-79 (Crafton/Moon Exit) and PA Route 60.

"Joining the UPMC network will allow more people in our service area to receive quality health care without having to travel downtown," said William F. Provenzano, Ohio Valley General Hospital president and chief executive officer.

UPMC Health Plan, a health care benefits company, serves over 440,000 members and 4,700 employer groups. UPMC Health Plan partners with doctors and hospitals in making decisions about patients' health care. Health Plan members are served by some 6,700 physicians at 84 hospitals throughout 26 counties of western Pennsylvania.

UPMC Health Plan is a subsidiary of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).
