UPMC Health Plan Names New Vice President of Strategic and Advisory Services PITTSBURGH (November, 1, 2005) - Christopher R. Young has been named UPMC Health Plan's new Vice President of Strategic and Advisory Services. Mr. Young will begin his duties on November 1, 2005 and will be responsible for the sales, marketing and account executive services of the UPMC Health Plan. Prior to accepting his position with UPMC Health Plan, he served as executive vice president of Large Client Sales for Cowden Associates Inc. of Pittsburgh, where he provided strategic consulting to mid-size and large clients. Mr. Young has 25 years of experience with national and regional consulting firms. "Chris Young is a key addition to our executive staff," said Diane P. Holder, president of UPMC Health Plan. "He comes to us with an extensive background in health care benefits consulting." Mr. Young was a principal for five years with William M. Mercer in Pittsburgh and directed Aon Corporation's Pittsburgh office for six years. He also helped develop an early-stage managed care plan while directing Equicor's Cleveland, Ohio, office. Mr. Young received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Vincent College and a Master of Science degree in Education from Duquesne University. He is a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), a designation co-sponsored by the Wharton School of Business, the University of Pennsylvania, and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP). Mr. Young has also served on the national board of governors of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists and as president of the society's Pittsburgh chapter.
