New, larger facility reflects growth and commitment to region
The new office will be located at 1219 Scalp Ave., in Johnstown, near the intersection of routes 56 and 219. The previous office was located on Budfield Street near the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. "We are delighted to show our continuing commitment to Cambria County in this manner,” said Diane P. Holder, President, UPMC Health Plan. “This new facility will enable us to better meet the health needs of this region.” As recently as 2005, the Johnstown office was used as a client services office only and housed two employees. The new office will eventually house 10 employees, including Richard Cartwright, MD, the regional medical director for UPMC Health Plan. The Johnstown regional office handles sales and client services for large, mid-sized and small employers, and offers multiple product lines, including UPMC Health Plan’s group HMO, PPO, EPO, POS, and consumer-directed plans; its Medicare product, UPMC for Life; its Medical Assistance product, UPMC for You; and its Children’s Health Insurance Plan, UPMC for Kids. In addition,UPMC Health Plan is part of a partnership with Employers Medical Access Partnership (E.MAP), which serves employers in Cambria, Blair, Somerset and Bedford counties. In all, the Johnstown regional office is responsible for serving members and employer groups in nine counties in Southwestern Pennsylvania. “UPMC Health Plan is committed to this region,” said Tony Benevento, vice president of sales and marketing for UPMC Health Plan. “In recent years, we have worked to develop a strong network of doctors and hospitals in this region.
