UPMC Insurance Services Division Names Michael O’Donnell Vice President of Health Promotion

PITTSBURGH (March 5, 2008) — The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Insurance Services Division announced today that Michael O’Donnell, PhD, has been named Vice President of Health Promotion.

In this role, Dr. O’Donnell reports to Diane P. Holder, President and CEO of UPMC Health Plan and President of the UPMC Insurance Services Division.

“Dr. O’Donnell will be responsible for the overall strategic development and operations of member wellness and health promotion. In addition he will develop and implement risk reduction strategies and programs to improve the health of our members,” said Ms. Holder.

Dr. O’Donnell has more than 20 years of experience in health promotion leadership. Most recently, he was the Director of Health and Wellness for Cleveland Clinic Health System in Ohio. He is the Founder, President, and Editor-in-Chief of American Journal of Health Promotion, president of the Health Promotion Research Foundation, and chairman of the non-profit organization Health Promotion Advocates. Dr. O’Donnell received his PhD in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan, an MBA and a master’s in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA from Oberlin College, Ohio.
