Use the Best
UPMC for You and quality go hand-in-hand. You can go to more than 80 hospitals. You can choose from more than 7,000 doctors.
This site offers you the opportunity to view the Medical Assistance Member Handbook and read past and present Caring for You member newsletters, which include articles on quitting smoking and maternity issues. You will also be able to find a doctor with our searchable Provider Directory tool.
You can count on us for prescription drug coverage. You get all of the same drugs that Medical Assistance covers, and you get some over-the-counter drugs and vitamins with a prescription. Some medications may require a copayment, and depending on your category of aid, limits may apply.
Healthy teeth are important. We cover exams, cleanings, and fillings for all members.
You deserve to see clearly. You get two yearly visits with your eye doctor, plus $100 toward glasses or contact lenses. Exceptions to the $100 limit for some medical conditions or individuals under age 21 apply.*
We cover doctor visits, with no copayments. (Some members may have a small copayment for chiropractors and podiatrists.)
Our programs help keep you healthy. Our programs for Asthma, Diabetes, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and heart disease will help you be as healthy as you can be.

Moms are important. We care about you and your children. Our UPMC for a New Beginning Maternity Program will help keep you and your baby healthy. If you meet program requirements, you could receive an infant car seat or a portable play yard. To get your infant car seat or portable play yard, you will need to:
- Visit your maternity provider within 13 weeks of becoming pregnant.
- Enroll in the UPMC for a New Beginning Maternity Program before you are 34 weeks pregnant.
- Keep at least eight prenatal visits.
- Get all of the routine lab tests ordered by your maternity provider.
- Keep all of your scheduled telephone calls with the maternity program representative.
- Return to UPMC for You the consent form signed by you and your maternity provider.
We help you find maternity providers who are close to your home.
The text4baby program is available to help pregnant women and new moms get information about caring for their health and giving their babies the best possible start in life.
How text4baby Works
Registration is easy. You can register online or from your cell phone. Use your cell phone to text the word BABY (or BEBE for Spanish) to the number 511411. You’ll be asked to enter your baby’s due date or your baby’s birthday and your ZIP code. Once registered, you will start receiving free messages with tips for your pregnancy or caring for your baby. Message contents are timed to your due date or your baby’s birth date. If you are pregnant and your due date changes, text UPDATE to 511411 to enter your new due date. Once you have your baby, be sure to text in UPDATE with your baby’s birthday so you keep getting messages through your baby’s first year.
If you want to stop receiving messages from text4baby, text STOP to 511411. To start receiving the messages again, you will have to enroll again by sending BABY to 511411 (BEBE to 511411 for Spanish messages).
If you have service with one of the carriers listed below, text4baby is free.
Even mothers without a text messaging plan can get these messages for free. If someone has limited texts per month, text4baby won't reduce that limit.
