Get ready, get moving!

Getting regular exercise is among the healthiest things you can do for yourself. But many people are reluctant to start an exercise program. You may be concerned that exercise will be too difficult or that you might hurt yourself. Actually, the opposite is true. Being inactive is likely to cause you to lose ground in four areas that are important for staying healthy and strong — strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance. Moderate exercise is safe for people in all age groups. Of course, the first step is for you to talk to your doctor before starting any kind of exercise routine. Make sure that the exercise you want to do is safe for you.

We have a fitness program that can help you — Silver&Fit® for UPMC for Life members or Active&Fit® for UPMC for Life Specialty Plan members.* Both programs provide access to a number of fitness clubs in your area. These programs can help members exercise and learn about fitness, make new friends, and participate in social activities. We also have a program for people who feel more comfortable exercising at home.
