The hustle and bustle of a busy doctor’s office can make some patients feel rushed. It’s all too common to spend more time in the waiting room than with your doctor. But research shows that patients who have good relationships with their doctors are more satisfied with their care and have better results. Use these tips to help you make the most of your doctor appointment:

Write down questions — Bring a list of questions to ask your doctor.

Bring your medicines — Bring all of the prescription and over-the-counter medicines and supplements you are taking.

Report changes — Tell your doctor about any new or different symptoms you are having.

Ask questions — Doctors want you to ask questions. Make sure the doctor answers them in a way you understand. Ask the doctor to re-explain the answer until you understand it. Remember, your doctor is there to help.

Follow up — If you have any questions about your doctor visit when you get home, call your doctor’s office.
