A range of benefit choices
We offer a variety of UPMC for Life plans (2008) — both with and without prescription drug coverage. Our $0 monthly premium plan option, which offers members richer benefits for no cost beyond traditional Medicare payments, continues to be a popular choice.

In response to the federal government's recent implementation of the Medicare Modernization Act, we now offer Prescription Drug Plans (2008) — affordable Medicare Part D coverage for both generic and brand-name drugs. All of our UPMC for Life plans allow members to refer themselves to specialists or get second opinions.

Education for providers and members
UPMC for Life serves its members by periodically offering comprehensive educational programs that explain Medicare benefits and health coverage options. Whether it's a prescription drug plan or other changes in Medicare, UPMC for Life is ready to help through educational seminars for Medicare beneficiaries or informational seminars for physicians.

Service with a personal touch
All UPMC for Life Members can benefit from the Health Care Concierge Program. Special customer representatives — or, concierges — are specifically assigned to individual members. Concierges are available to serve as a member's personal guide through the complex world of Medicare.

Our care management programs provide one-on-one support for chronically ill members with diabetes, asthma, or heart disease. Periodic reminders to get important tests, educational materials specific to their condition, and overall support and encouragement are all part of this service.

UPMC for Life members will soon have access to MyHealth OnLine, a secure member portal which provides a variety of important health facts, recommendations, and tools to keep you healthy. Free services for members include access to WebMD®; health surveys; personalized plans, such as diet and exercise programs; and UPMC for Life’s new Personal Health Record.

The Personal Health Record will provide you with the ability to store and track your personal health information as well as use interactive programs to help you better understand medical conditions and medication usage. This information can then be shared with your physician to help enhance your overall level of care.

A sales consultant for UPMC for Life discusses Medicare plans with a prospective member. UPMC for Life sponsored sessions like this throughout the region to help older Pennsylvanians understand the choices available to them as a result of the recent changes in Medicare.
