Let’s Move Pittsburgh

The goal of Let’s Move Pittsburgh is clear: to make Pittsburgh one of the healthiest cities in the nation for children and teens. You could say the initiative has a pretty big name behind it – First Lady Michelle Obama spearheads the national Let’s Move! campaign, of which Let’s Move Pittsburgh is an unofficial arm.

Let’s Move Pittsburgh is led by Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens with support from UPMC Health Plan and the Heinz Endowments. Corporations, nonprofit organizations, parents, and caregivers have partnered with the organization to improve the health of families in the Pittsburgh region. Their goals include:

  • Increase physical activity.
  • Reduce screen time (recreational time spent in front of TV, computers, and video games).
  • Improve nutrition.
  • Advocate for clean air and an environmentally-friendly lifestyle.
