What's New for 2024

UPMC HealthyU is changing to Take a Healthy Step.

  • On Jan. 22, 2024, you will gain access to a new well-being program that encourages you to take simple but important steps to manage your health and lead a healthier lifestyle. It also rewards you for doing so! Eligible members will receive a UPMC Consumer Advantage® debit card that can be used for deductible, coinsurance, and eligible prescription expenses.
  • Any previously earned UPMC HealthyU funds will continue to pay for eligible expenses until they are exhausted.
  • There are four levels of Take a Healthy Step rewards. As you complete a level, UPMC Health Plan will deposit the reward dollars designated for that level onto the UPMC Consumer Advantage® debit card.
  • You can see your spending account balance, deductible status, and well-being program details, by logging in to the member site.

Changes to both the Standard Option and High-Deductible Health Plan

  • Your share of the non-postal premium will increase for Self Only/Self Plus One/Self and Family.

Changes to the HDHP only

  • The High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) Option PPO has a Health Incentive Account (HIA). The HIA allows you to earn up to $75 for Self Only coverage and up to $150 for Self Plus One or Self and Family coverage. If you earn the rewards UPMC Health Plan’s premium pass-through will fund your health savings account (HSA) or health reimbursement arrangement (HRA; applicable if you are not eligible for an HSA). You will then be able to use the debit card to pay for eligible out-of-pocket expenses. Previously the HIA allowed you to earn up to $250 for Self Only coverage and up to $500 for Self Plus One or Self and Family coverage and could be only used after the deductible was met for coinsurance and copayments.

Standard Option HMO

Our Standard Option HMO is a high-value plan with a low monthly premium. Reward dollars you earn will be deposited into a health incentive account (HIA) and used to pay for your coinsurance, pharmacy copayments, and deductible.
