For 2023 coverage, the Open Enrollment period is November 1, 2022 - January 15, 2023. You may be eligible for a special enrollment period, allowing you to enroll outside of Open Enrollment, if you have a qualifying life event.

The special enrollment period for 2023 coverage begins on January 16, 2023. To learn more about the eligibility requirements for the special enrollment period, please review the information below and visit pennie.com or the UPMC Health Plan Marketplace to determine eligibility and to enroll.

You must have a qualifying life event to purchase 2023 health coverage after January 15, 2023. Examples of qualifying life events include, but are not limited to:

• You or your spouse/domestic partner gave birth to a child.
• You gained or became a dependent because you got married or entered into a domestic partnership.
• You moved into a new service area.
• You aged off a parent’s coverage at age 26 or lost your eligibility for Medicaid, CHIP, etc.
• You had a change in your income that qualifies you for a tax credit.(Minimum essential coverage must be obtained within 60 days.)

If any of these describe you, then it may not be too late to get health insurance. You can still enroll in coverage during the special enrollment period. Use our special enrollment guide to confirm whether you are eligible to enroll.
