CARING FOR LIFE • Issue Two • 2021 3 Stay healthy and prevent illness by getting the preventive care you need You can get the following preventive care at no additional cost: 1 Annual wellness visit. This visit gives you the time you need to catch up with your doctor about your health care needs. Many doctors are now offering a telehealth option for your annual wellness visit. Seeing your doctor over video is simple and allows you to interact with your doctor face-to-face. Your doctor may prefer you come into the office. Talk to your doctor about the best option for you. Screenings. Here are some of the screenings that are covered at no cost: blood pressure, bone mass measurement, colon cancer, depression, hemoglobin A1c, diabetic retinal eye exam, glaucoma, HIV, mammogram, obesity, Pap, pelvic, prostate cancer, and alcohol use. Immunizations. 2 Getting the vaccinations you need can help you avoid being sick. Most people should get the COVID-19 vaccine now and the flu vaccine annually. You may also want to get the pneumonia, tetanus, or shingles vaccines. Talk to your doctor about the immunizations you should get. Some vaccines are covered under the Part D prescription drug benefit and must be administered by a participating pharmacy. Please see your Evidence of Coverage for more information. Immunization Blood Pressure PCP Preventive care, including exams and screenings, can save your life. It can help your doctor find health problems early when it’s easier to treat them. It’s important to talk to your doctor about which screenings are right for you. All UPMC for Life members have an opportunity to earn a $30 reward for completing an annual wellness visit. Members may be eligible to earn rewards for completing other important preventive screenings. • Diabetic retinal eye exam—$25 reward • Mammogram—$50 reward • Colorectal cancer screening—$60 reward Members may be eligible to earn the preventive care rewards listed above if they meet the following criteria. UPMC for Life will notify you each year if reward opportunities are available to you. Preventive care rewards are determined annually and may change each year based on your health care needs. When: 1-2 years, depending on doctor recommendation Mammogram Who: Ages 52-74, female, no prior mastectomy When: Every 27 months Colorectal cancer screening (Cologuard®, colon FIT kit, colonoscopy, or sigmoidoscopy) Who: Ages 51-75. You may need a prescription from your doctor for this screening. When: 1-10 years based on your chosen screening method Is it time for your mammogram?
