The four parts of Medicare Part C—Medicare Advantage After you enroll in Parts A and B, you have the option to enroll in Part C. Part C—Two types of Medicare Advantage plans Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) • HMOs use a network of participating doctors and hospitals for your care. • You must receive services from participating doctors and hospitals, except for emergency care, urgent care, and out-of-area kidney dialysis. • PPOs o”er coverage for services received both in and out of the plan’s provider network. • You may pay a higher coinsurance, copay, or deductible for care received outside of the plan’s participating provider network.
