24 Personal counseling UPMC for Life Complete Care members can receive six counseling sessions per concern per year with a counselor at no cost. Counselors can help you cope with family and relationship concerns, stress, grief, and other emotional issues that you may be experiencing. Tools for caregivers UPMC for Life Complete Care provides support for you, your family members, and caregivers at no cost. We can help you manage both the challenges and satisfaction of caring for a loved one. You can get tools and information to help you communicate effectively, set goals, make decisions, adjust your home for safe caregiving, manage stress, and avoid burnout. Support for serious illness If you have a serious or advanced illness, UPMC for Life Complete Care can provide you with additional care and support at no cost. Our care team can help you cope with your illness and maintain the highest quality of life possible. You will get a personal care plan, help with symptom and medication management, and home-delivered meals if needed. You pay a $0 copay for each palliative care service and a $0 copay for eligible home-delivered meals (14 meals for seven days delivered in one shipment, one time per year). Prior authorization is required. This benefit is for members living at home or in an assisted living home (it is not available to members in a skilled nursing facility). PERS is a device that is connected through your phone and used to call for help in an emergency. The device is easy to use; you can activate it with just a push of the “Help” button. The button can be worn as a necklace or a wristband so you can easily access it in an emergency. Operators are standing by 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to emergency calls. To order or for more information, call your Health Care Concierge team at the phone number on the back of your member ID card. You can also call your care management team. UPMC for Life Complete Care members must have prior authorization to use this benefit. Members are limited to one PERS per lifetime. If UPMC for Life Complete Care is not able to provide a PERS, a PERS may be covered for those with Medicaid long-term services and supports based on your service plan.
