Premiums Reduced for UPMC for Life Offerings for 2015

PITTSBURGH (Oct. 2, 2014) –UPMC for Life – the Medicare Advantage product of UPMC Health Plan – is lowering monthly premium costs for four of its 2015 plans while continuing to offer a $0 premium plan.*

Included among the plans with premium reductions is UPMC for Life HMO Deductible with Rx. This plan previously had a $37.50 monthly premium that has now been reduced to $18. UPMC for Life’s most popular product –UPMC for Life HMO Rx – will have a premium reduction from $84 to $78.

All of UPMC for Life’s Medicare Advantage plans offer more benefits than Original Medicare alone, including low copays for primary care physician visits and complimentary membership at a participating fitness club through Silver & Fit. Also, for the first time, most plans will offer preventive dental coverage. All UPMC for Life members are able to receive medical care at UPMC facilities as well as at community hospitals.

“UPMC for Life continues to grow because it has so much to offer to the Medicare beneficiaries of Western Pennsylvania,” said Diane P. Holder, President of UPMC Health Plan. “That includes having the top-ranked hospitals** in our network, benefits that go beyond Original Medicare, and access to our award-winning*** Health Care Concierge team.

“UPMC for Life focuses on helping its members to get the care they need where and when they need it.”

Most UPMC for Life plans include preventive dental coverage for cleanings and exams, which is a new benefit this year. UPMC Dental Advantage Medicare includes a $15 copay for one oral exam and cleaning every six months. It also offers a $15 copay for one bitewing x-ray every three years.

All UPMC for Life members can take advantage of the Silver & Fit Exercise and Healthy Aging Program. This program provides membership at participating fitness facilities at no additional cost to the member. Moreover, for those who prefer to work out at home, the program provides home fitness kits including walking, Pilates, yoga, dance, and cardio strength.

Again this year, UPMC for Life will continue to offer its $0 premium plan* – UPMC for Life HMO. This plan is considered ideal for persons who have prescription coverage through PACE or the Veterans Administration.

Additional benefits for all UPMC for Life plans include Assist America, which provides help when travelling more than 100 miles from home or to a foreign country. Help is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

As always, all UPMC for Life members can take advantage of UPMC Health Plan’s Health Care Concierge program. Concierges are local customer service representatives who are knowledgeable about Medicare and are dedicated to answering members’ questions and to getting their problems solved with just one phone call.

Other reduced premiums for 2015 include UPMC for Life PPO High Deductible with Rx, from $40 to $39; and UPMC for Life HMO Rx Enhanced, from $224 to $223.
