UPMC for Best Health Now Available in 32 Pennsylvania Counties

 

PITTSBURGH (Jan. 5, 2015) – UPMC for Best Health, a Private Coverage Option available under the new Medical Assistance reform program known as Healthy PA, is now available to residents of 32 counties in Pennsylvania who meet the eligibility criteria.

Non-medically frail individuals who are between 21 and 64 years of age, and who earn up to 133 percent of the Federal Poverty Level may now apply for enrollment.
Among the essential health benefits that will be covered by UPMC for Best Health are emergency services, hospitalization, maternity care, prescription drugs, and preventive and wellness services.

Statewide, the Healthy PA Private Coverage Option is expected to increase access to health care coverage for over 500,000 individuals previously not eligible for Medical Assistance in Pennsylvania.      

The 32 counties where individuals can enroll in UPMC for Best Health are located in southwest, northwest, and south central Pennsylvania. They include the following regions: Region 1 – Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest, McKean, Mercer, Venango and Warren; Region 2 – Cameron, Elk, and Potter; Region 4 – Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington, and Westmoreland; Region 5 – Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Clearfield, Huntingdon, Jefferson, and Somerset; Region 7 – Adams, Berks, Lancaster and York.
