Text 4 baby Program

UPMC for You is proud to announce a partnership with the text4baby Program. The National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB) launched text4baby, the first free health text messaging service in the U.S. Text4baby supports moms by providing accurate, text-length health information and resources in a format that is personal and timely, through a channel only the woman knows and uses. Over 85% of Americans own a cell phone and 72% of cell users send or receive text messages. The information is available in English and Spanish.

Registration is easy and can be done online or from a cell phone. The member enters the due date or baby's birthday date and her ZIP code. The messages are timed to with coincide with the stage of pregnancy or the baby's age to provide specific care information. Messages continue through baby's first year. All messages from text4baby are free! Even members without a text messaging plan can get these messages for free. If she has limited texts per month, text4baby won't reduce that limit. If the member has service with one of the carriers listed below, text4baby is free for the member.
