UPMC for Life Dual (HMO SNP) members receive additional benefits and services, such as:

UPMC for Life members can connect with their doctor for certain services without leaving home. You can virtually visit with your doctor over the phone or online if your provider participates in telehealth. You’ll have the same copay as if you were seeing your doctor in-person. Your provider must be in the same state as you during your visit.

Personal counseling services

UPMC for Life Dual members have a $0 copay for six counseling sessions every year. You’ll work with a trained and licensed counselor. UPMC for Life Dual members, their families, and caregivers can also receive six caregiver counseling sessions over the phone or in-person at no additional cost. Learn ways to reduce your feelings of loss, loneliness, or stress. Get resources to communicate effectively, make tough decisions, set goals, and solve problems.

Meal service

UPMC for Life Dual members can receive home-delivered meals after they are discharged from an inpatient hospital stay, observation stay, or a skilled nursing facility stay. This benefit is included in your plan at no additional cost to you. It includes 14 meals delivered to your home. We’ll work with you to coordinate your first week of meals when you’re back home so you don’t have to. Prior authorization is required.


UPMC for Life Dual members have a $0 copay for four routine podiatry visits per year.

Assist America Travel Assistance

Assist America provides help when you travel more than 100 miles from home or even to another country. Help is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, anywhere in the world. Assist America provides these services:

  • Emergency medical evacuation
  • Hospital admission assistance
  • Medical monitoring
  • Round-trip transportation for a family member or friend (if traveling alone)
  • Help replacing forgotten prescriptions (additional costs may apply)
  • Assistance with local language communications
  • Member transportation if medically necessary
  • Arranging for transport of mortal remains

Assist America does not replace your UPMC for Life Dual emergency benefits. If you have an emergency, go to the nearest hospital or urgent care facility. You will be covered under your UPMC for Life medical coverage.

UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line

As a UPMC for Life member, you can call the UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line for health advice 24/7. You can get general health information or facts about a specific medical issue. Experienced, registered nurses are on hand 24/7 to provide you with prompt and efficient service.

UPMC nurses who answer calls are licensed to assist members located in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. Members must be located in one of those states when calling the UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line. The UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line is not a substitute for medical care. If an emergency arises, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Nurses cannot answer plan or benefit questions. Please call the Member Services phone number on the back of your member ID card for nonclinical inquiries.

UPMC AnywhereCare

UPMC AnywhereCare gives you access to low-cost, high-quality care for common medical conditions through a virtual visit. UPMC AnywhereCare providers* are easily accessible over live video straight from your smartphone, tablet, or computer—anytime, day or night, for a $0 copay. The service works best for conditions such as colds and flu, sinus infections, coughs and sore throats, urinary symptoms, back pain, sunburn, pink eye, and poison ivy.

If you think you may be experiencing life-threatening symptoms, call 911 or seek immediate medical attention.

*UPMC for Life members located in Pennsylvania at the time of service will have a virtual visit with a UPMC-employed provider. UPMC for Lifemembers located outside of Pennsylvania at the time of service will receive care from a provider employed or contracted by Online Care Network II P.C.

MyHealth OnLine is your one-stop destination for health care tools. This secure member website allows you to view your plan benefits. You also have access to health and wellness tools, your plan benefits, claims, and much more. Once you become a UPMC for Life member, we’ll send you information on how to log in and get started.
