The J.D. Power 2017 U.S. Member Health Plan Study was based on nearly 34,000 responses and examined the overall experience of health plan members with commercial health insurance. UPMC Health Plan achieved the highest score in the coverage and benefits; provider choice; information and communication, and claims processing in the Pennsylvania region.
UPMC Health Plan received the highest numerical score among commercial health plans in Pennsylvania in the J.D. J.D. Power Certification
UPMC Health Plan’s call center has earned call center certification from the J.D. Power Certified Contact Center Program five times since 2009. To be recognized by J.D. Power, companies must attain a high level of performance in sales and/or service excellence, which is compared to a national benchmark. The evaluation criteria include the customer service representatives’ courtesy, knowledge and concern for the customer, promptness in speaking to a person, and timely resolution of the problem or request.
International Customer Management Institute
In May 2016, UPMC Health Plan’s call center won the Best Strategic Value to the Organization and was recognized for Best Use of Technology by the International Customer Management Institute (ICMI). ICMI recognizes contact centers around the world that best embody contact center excellence.
National Business Group on Health
UPMC and UPMC Health Plan were selected as a Platinum winner of the 2015 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® awards by the National Business Group on Health (NBGH). This is the sixth NBGH award for the program since 2009. Together they were one of only 26 companies in the nation to earn the Platinum award, which recognizes outstanding programs that promote healthy work environments and encourage workers to live healthier lifestyles.
UPMC Health Plan’s Member Services Department was named a 2017 Gold Stevie Winner in the Contact Center of the Year Category — our third consecutive Stevie call center award. For the second year in a row, UPMC Health Plan was named the Best in Class Contact Center at the 2016 Call Center Week Excellence Awards. The 2016 Call Center Week Excellence Awards are a production of the International Quality & Productivity Center (IQPC) and honor, recognize, and promote the most innovative contact center solutions and individuals over the past year. According to the NCQA’s Private Health Insurance Plan Ratings for 2016-2017, UPMC Health Plan, Inc. is one of the top-rated HMO plans in the nation. In fact, UPMC Health Plan, Inc. is the only HMO in Pennsylvania to receive a 5 out of 5 rating — the top rating given by NCQA.
†U.S. News used data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), including its rating of each Medicare Advantage plan. For an insurer to make the U.S. News list, its Medicare Advantage plans available in a given state had to earn an average rating of at least 4.5 out of 5 stars, and all its plans in the state had to earn at least 3 stars.
