End-to-end provider support helps ensure a smooth submission process

Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, patients who have select plans with UPMC Health Plan coverage may be eligible to participate in manufacturer copay assistance programs for claims on select specialty medications, helping to reduce their out-of-pocket costs.* Supports like HelpScript manufacturer copay assistance enrollment services can help ease the submission process for patients and providers. 

Offering support for patients
HelpScript Patient Advocates offer dedicated support to help eligible patients prescribed specific provider-administered specialty medications enroll in manufacturer copay assistance programs. Advocates offer concierge-level service that helps patients navigate the enrollment process by:

  • Educating on the program and out-of-pocket costs.
  • Confirming if a medication qualifies for a program.
  • Helping them learn how to read EOBs.
  • Answering any questions about HelpScript services.

Eligible patients who participate in manufacturer copay assistance may pay as little as $0 for their eligible medications. There is no cost for eligible patients to use HelpScript services.

Prioritizing provider involvement
HelpScript Patient Advocates also offer providers the same level of service—which includes ground-level support for submitting reimbursement requests to manufacturer copay assistance programs and office involvement throughout the process.

Manufacturer copay assistance programs may often cover hundreds of specialty medications and can help reduce out-of-pocket costs for patients with chronic conditions. You can call a UPMC HelpScript Patient Advocate at 1-833-813-8234 for additional information. Help is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

*Patients with secondary government insurance (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid) are not eligible for

programs.
