UPMC Dental Advantage celebrates 15-years of growth

Jan. 2026What's New

From pilot program to now serving all product lines

Fifteen years ago, UPMC Dental Advantage began as a pilot program with just 8,000 members. The plan now serves more than 1.2 million members across Commercial, Medicare, and Government Programs lines of business - a milestone made possible through the dedication of providers like you.

To reach this achievement, UPMC Dental Advantage increased its range and reach throughout the years. Just a year after its launch, the plan became the preferred dental carrier for UPMC Employer Group. In the years that followed, it introduced preventive dental and comprehensive and restorative services to UPMC for Life Medicare Advantage Plans, then expanded to government programs lines of business through an arrangement with SKYGEN in 2021. By 2023, all dental plan administration was with the UPMC Dental Advantage product administered by SKYGEN.

UPMC Health Plan’s long, proud history and commitment to providing high-quality benefit plans and unparalleled customer service extends to UPMC Dental Advantage. Thank you for being a vital part of our success. We look forward to continuing to grow together and supporting you with the tools and resources you need to serve our members.
