When you don’t feel well, you should call your primary care provider (PCP). Your PCP coordinates and manages your overall care, knows your health history, and can help you access services to stay healthy. They provide guidance and support throughout your health care journey.

Telephone support for nonemergency health-related questions

You can call this no-cost helpline to get answers to your health-related questions.2 After you describe your non-emergency symptoms, a UPMC nurse will recommend ways to treat your condition at home or advise you to get medical care.

UPMC AnywhereCare

Virtual urgent care and much more

You and your child3 can use UPMC AnywhereCare4 to get treatment for non-emergency conditions, including cold and flu symptoms, seasonal allergies, and coughs. A provider will assess your condition, then send a prescription to your preferred pharmacy (if necessary). In addition, UPMC AnywhereCare is staffed with providers to help if you've got questions for a pharmacist, you're looking for one-on-one coaching to meet your health and wellness goals, or you need behavioral health support.

eDermatology

Expert care when you need it for skin-related issues

You can use this telehealth service to connect with a team of board-certified, fellowship-trained UPMC dermatologists, no matter where you are in Pennsylvania.5 After you complete a questionnaire and upload photos, you’ll receive medical advice, a treatment plan, and a prescription if appropriate. They can treat acne, eczema, rashes, and other nonemergency skin conditions.

RxWell app for emotional and physical well-being

Prescription-strength health

The RxWell® app offers programs that can help you improve your physical and emotional health. These programs address stress, anxiety, weight management, depression, physical activity, tobacco cessation, and other wellness topics. You can also work with a health coach by messaging them through the app. They will provide support, accountability, and education to help you achieve your goals.

Behavioral health support for anxiety and depression

You can work with a behavioral health coach to start feeling better. Our coaches can help you better understand behavioral health issues, work with you on skills to manage your symptoms, and connect you to treatment resources.

Get started by calling UPMC Health Plan Behavioral Health Services at 1-888-777-8754 (TTY: 711), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All services are private and confidential.

UPMC for You and UPMC Community HealthChoices members are eligible for services through behavioral health managed care organizations (BH-MCOs) that are overseen by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services’ Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. Call your Health Care Concierge team by calling the number on your ID card to get contact information for your BH-MCO.

Reduce your stress by working with a health coach. Our coaches use proven techniques to get you the stress relief you need.

To get started via app, log in to or register for a UPMC AnywhereCare account. Once you’re logged in, select the Health Navigation tile. If a navigator is available, you can choose Visit Now. If a navigator is not available, you can schedule a visit.

In Home Services

Get the care you need from home

  • In-Home Urgent Care Plus. This service delivers a team of paramedics—connected with a provider via telehealth—right to your door to help treat and assess your urgent care needs. It is offered to UPMC Health Plan members in Allegheny County who need care quickly but can’t get an in-office appointment in time.

    To qualify, you must be referred by your provider.
  • Connected Care. This no-cost program is accessible through your smartphone or tablet. It can help you and your health care team track your health. It uses text message-based check-ins, care monitoring, and other resources to help you along your health journey, particularly if you have a chronic illness like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or chronic heart failure (CHF).

    Note: This program is not an emergency response service. Data charges may apply if you are not connected to Wi-Fi.

If you are traveling8 outside UPMC Health Plan’s service area and need nonemergency (routine) care, call Member Services at 1-844-881-4146 (TTY: 711) or use the phone number on your member ID card.

Help is available:
Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If you are traveling more than 100 miles from home—including to another country—you can use Assist America9 to connect to medical services and other resources.

1UPMC for You and UPMC Community HealthChoices members are advised to notify a Health Care Concierge after changing their PCP.

2UPMC nurses who answer calls are licensed to assist members in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, New York, and Ohio. Members must be in one of those states when calling the UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line.

3UPMC Children’s AnywhereCare is available only to patients who are in Pennsylvania. In order for a child to have a UPMC Children’s AnywhereCare visit, the child’s parent or legal guardian must be with the child during the video portion of the visit, and the child and parent or legal guardian must be in Pennsylvania during the visit. If you are located outside of Pennsylvania at the time of service, you may select the standard UPMC AnywhereCare module and you will receive care from a provider employed or contracted by Online Care Network II PC (OCN), also known as Amwell Medical Group, at the discretion of the provider. OCN is not an affiliate of UPMC. Providers are not available to treat members who are in Puerto Rico.

4UPMC Health Plan members who are in Pennsylvania at the time of a virtual visit may select a UPMC-employed provider, subject to availability and discretion of the provider. Members located outside of Pennsylvania at the time of service will receive care from a provider employed or contracted by Online Care Network II P.C. (OCN), also known as Amwell Medical Group. OCN is not an affiliate of UPMC. Limitations may apply for members of ASO plans that have opted out of coverage. Providers are not available to treat members who are in Puerto Rico.

Assist America is not travel or medical insurance, and its services do not replace health coverage while you are away from home. All services must be arranged and provided by Assist America. For travel that will extend beyond 90 days, you can obtain additional Assist America coverage through the Expatriate/Extended Coverage program. Assist America charges a fee for this program.
