Telephone support for nonemergency health-related questions
You can call this no-cost helpline to get answers to your health-related questions.2 After you describe your nonemergency symptoms, a UPMC nurse will recommend ways to treat your condition at home or advise you to get medical care.

Virtual urgent care
You and your child3 can use UPMC AnywhereCare4 to get treatment for nonemergency conditions, including cold and flu symptoms, seasonal allergies, and earaches. You will be seen by a provider and get a prescription sent to your preferred pharmacy, if necessary.

UPMC for You and UPMC Community HealthChoices members are eligible for services through behavioral health managed care organizations (BH-MCOs) that are overseen by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services’ Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. Call your Health Care Concierge team by calling the number on your ID card to get contact information for your BH-MCO.

Reduce your stress by working with an expert Prescription for Wellness health coach. Our coaches use proven techniques to get you the stress relief you need.

In Home Services
Get the care you need from home
- In-Home Urgent Care Plus. This service delivers a team of paramedics—connected with a provider via telehealth—right to your door to help treat and assess your urgent care needs. It is offered to UPMC Health Plan members in Allegheny County who need care quickly but can’t get an in-office appointment in time.
To qualify, you must be referred by your provider. - Connected Care. This no-cost program is accessible through your smartphone or tablet. It can help you and your health care team track your health. It uses text message-based check-ins, care monitoring, and other resources to help you along your health journey, particularly if you have a chronic illness like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or chronic heart failure (CHF).

If you are traveling6 outside UPMC Health Plan’s service area and need nonemergency (routine) care, call Member Services at 1-844-881-4146 (TTY: 711) or use the phone number on your member ID card.

If you are traveling more than 100 miles from home—including to another country—you can use Assist America7 to connect to medical services and other resources.

1UPMC for You and UPMC Community HealthChoices members are advised to notify a Health Care Concierge after changing their PCP.
2UPMC nurses who answer calls are licensed to assist members in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, New York, and Ohio. Members must be in one of those states when calling the UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line.
3UPMC Children’s AnywhereCare is available only to patients who are in Pennsylvania. In order for a child to have a UPMC Children’s AnywhereCare visit, the child’s parent or legal guardian must be with the child during the video portion of the visit, and the child and parent or legal guardian must be in Pennsylvania during the visit. If you are located outside of Pennsylvania at the time of service, you may select the standard UPMC AnywhereCare module and you will receive care from a provider employed or contracted by Online Care Network II PC (OCN), also known as Amwell Medical Group, at the discretion of the provider. OCN is not an affiliate of UPMC. Providers are not available to treat members who are in Puerto Rico.
4UPMC Health Plan members who are in Pennsylvania at the time of a virtual visit may select a UPMC-employed provider, subject to availability and discretion of the provider. Members located outside of Pennsylvania at the time of service will receive care from a provider employed or contracted by Online Care Network II P.C. (OCN), also known as Amwell Medical Group. OCN is not an affiliate of UPMC. Limitations may apply for members of ASO plans that have opted out of coverage. Providers are not available to treat members who are in Puerto Rico.
5UPMC Health Plan does not charge for text messages. However, data and message rates from your carrier may apply. To stop receiving healthy tips, text STOP to 876-247 at any time.

For travel that will extend beyond 90 days, you can obtain additional Assist America coverage through the Expatriate/Extended Coverage program. Assist America charges a fee for this program.
