About the hosts

Stacy Smith

Podcast host Stacy Smith is a familiar name and voice to people in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Stacy has more than 50 years’ experience in broadcasting and anchored the news at KDKA TV for 38 years, with 20 of those years alongside podcast co-host Patrice King Brown.

He is an award-winning journalist who has always been interested in medical-related topics, including an award-winning in-depth report on the father of transplantation, Dr. Thomas Starzl. His interest in medicine, and his age, give him great insight into hosting the podcasts which tackle the changes this fall in Medicare Advantage plans. Stacy believes the podcast will answer questions and help people navigate and understand these changes so that they can choose which plan is best for them. Stacy retired from TV news but is still active, hosting and producing two podcasts.

Patrice King Brown

Patrice King Brown, an Emmy Award–winning television news anchor, reporter, and talk show host, may have stepped away from the anchor desk, but she’s excited to bring her familiar voice to Medicare for the Record, the new UPMC podcast. Co-hosting alongside her longtime former co-anchor of more than twenty years, Stacy Smith, Patrice is helping listeners better understand their best options when it comes to Medicare Advantage plans. For over 35 years, she shared the stories that mattered most to KDKA-TV viewers, and now she’s happy to continue serving as a trusted source of information—this time, focused on the all-important topic of health care. Away from the microphone, Patrice enjoys spending time with family and friends and finding new adventures through travel.
