Telehealth benefits

UPMC for Life members can connect with participating doctors and providers face-to-face through a video appointment. All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer that can show video and has a microphone.

Your copay will be the same or less than if you were seeing your doctor in person. Your provider must be in the same state as you during your visit.

UPMC AnywhereCare

UPMC AnywhereCare is a virtual visit platform where you can access high-quality care from your mobile device or computer 24/7 — right from the comfort of your home.

You can also use UPMC AnywhereCare to talk with a licensed pharmacist about your medications; get personalized guidance from a health navigator to help you make informed decisions and connect with resources; schedule an appointment with a board-certified health coach to improve your well-being; or find resources to help you address stress, anxiety, depression, and other issues that are affecting you.

Use UPMC AnywhereCare for:

• Virtual urgent care — High-quality health care 24/7 for a variety of nonemergency illnesses, including cold and flu symptoms, allergies, sinus infections, and more.
• Personal counseling — UPMC for Life members get six personal counseling sessions per concern per year at no cost.
• Ask a Pharmacist — Our pharmacists can help you understand each of your medications, suggest ways to save money, and answer your questions. They can even talk with your doctor if you are experiencing side effects.
• Health navigation — Not sure where to start? Connect with a health navigator to have a conversation about your health and learn what’s available to you.
• Health and wellness coaching —Free, ongoing support from a health coach to help you make lifestyle changes and work to become your healthiest self.
• Talk therapy — Connects you with licensed therapists for mental health evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment via telehealth. Available 24/7 for scheduling, but not a crisis service.
• Psychiatry — Offers mental health evaluation, diagnosis, and medication prescriptions by certified medical doctors. Appointments are available 24/7, but controlled substances cannot be prescribed. This is not a crisis service.

*UPMC for Life members who are in Pennsylvania at the time of a virtual visit may select a UPMC- employed provider, subject to availability and discretion of the provider. Members located outside of Pennsylvania at the time of service or those who select Talk Therapy or Psychiatry services will receive care from a provider employed or contracted by Online Care Network II PC (OCN), also known as Amwell Medical Group. OCN is not an affiliate of UPMC. Providers are not available to treat members who are in Puerto Rico.

UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line

If you have a health concern and need immediate assistance, UPMC's registered nurses can help. After discussing your symptoms, the nurse will help you determine what level of care you need. The UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line will save you time by helping you get care quickly and it could save you money by helping you avoid a higher copay. This service is free for members and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Just call 1-866-918-1591 (TTY: 711) and have your member ID card ready.

UPMC nurses who answer calls are licensed to assist members in New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. Members must be located in one of those states when calling the UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line. The UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line is not a substitute for medical care. If an emergency arises, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Nurses cannot answer plan or benefit questions. Please call the Member Services phone number on the back of your member ID card for nonclinical inquiries.
