UPMC for Kids is turning 20!
When we began, we covered 50 children in western Pennsylvania. We now cover more than 35,000 children statewide. That’s a lot of happy, healthy kids!
UPMC for Kids is celebrating this exciting milestone with a free family event on Saturday, September 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UPMC Health Plan Connect Center in Monroeville. Join us for fun with the Pittsburgh Zoo Mobile, health and wellness services, games, Health Plan mascots Will and Gabi, and more!

- During the past 20 years, UPMC for Kids has provided coverage for over 200,000 children and teens across more than 130,000 families.
- Our Health Care Concierge team has taken more than 1 million calls from member families.
- UPMC for Kids has participated in almost 6,000 community events since 2006. Our goal is to educate families about Children’s Health Insurance Program coverage.
- The UPMC for Kids network of providers has grown to include 40 UPMC hospitals and over 35,000 physicians (including specialists). It also has more than 150 community hospitals, and members can access over 37,000 pharmacies across the U.S.
- UPMC for Kids has covered:
- Over 500,000 routine checkups for more than 150,000 children and teens.
- More than 437,000 immunizations.
- Over 195,000 eye care visits and 60,000 pairs of glasses.
- 688,000 visits to the dentist
- Braces for 16,000 children.
- Nearly 2 million prescriptions.
- Treatment for almost 90,000 broken bones.
- About 11,000 lead level screenings.
UPMC for Kids gives your child easy access to care. We have a large provider network so you can find care when your child needs it. You also don't need a referral to see in-network providers.

- UPMC Health Plan member site and app – Online tools that provide information on many health topics
- UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line – Registered nurses can provide you with health care information day or night
- Health management programs – Assistance with managing asthma, diabetes, pregnancy, and more
- 24/7 video visits – High-quality, virtual visits with a provider for a variety of nonemergency conditions
- MyUPMC – Patient portal and mobile app to manage and access your health information with UPMC providers
