What is a copay?
A copay is a fixed amount that you must pay a provider for a covered service before you receive the service. You might have a copay of $20 every time you visit your primary care provider. Your copay might be higher if you see a specialist, such as $50 per visit.
What is considered a virtual visit?
A virtual visit takes place on a smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet access. Once you schedule an appointment, your provider will tell you when you have to join your visit.

When you have a traditional health plan, you get most of your care in person. UPMC VirtualCare lets you have $0 copay virtual visits with virtually enabled doctors who participate in the UPMC Partner or Select networks.
Having virtual visits through UPMC VirtualCare is easy. It can save time since you don’t have to go to a doctor’s office for visits. It may save you money, because there is no copay for virtual visits for wellness, primary care, urgent care, or behavioral health services. This plan also offers you the flexibility to see your doctor in person with a higher cost share. Preventive in-person visits are $0.
UPMC VirtualCare is a health insurance plan. It gives you access to primary care providers, behavioral health care providers, and specialists with virtually enabled doctors who participate in the UPMC Partner or Select networks. It also allows you to access virtual urgent care through UPMC AnywhereCare.4
UPMC AnywhereCare is a telehealth service that’s included with UPMC VirtualCare. UPMC AnywhereCare is an easy way to have virtual urgent care visits with a high-quality provider. Downloading the UPMC Health Plan app to access will be one of the first steps in your onboarding process.

1UPMC Health Plan members who are in Pennsylvania at the time of a virtual visit may select a UPMC employed provider, subject to availability and discretion of the provider. Members located outside of Pennsylvania at the time of service will receive care from a provider employed or contracted by Online Care Network II PC (OCN), also known as Amwell Medical Group. OCN is not an affiliate of UPMC. Limitations may apply for members of ASO plans that have opted out of coverage. Providers are not available to treat members who are in Puerto Rico. This health insurance policy may not cover all of your health care expenses. Read your contract or member handbook carefully to determine which health care services are covered.
