Preventive Services

Preventive services can help spot health problems early so you can get the care you need right away!

It’s important to talk to your doctor about the preventive care that’s right for you based on your health care needs. Most preventive services are available at no cost to members when you see an in-network doctor.* Plus, UPMC for Life Complete Care (HMO SNP) members can earn rewards for completing certain preventive care and taking steps to maintain their best health.

Preventive care reward program

The UPMC for Life Complete Care preventive care reward program allows members to earn reward dollars for completing certain preventive screenings by Dec. 31 each year. Once you become a member, we’ll let you know which preventive screenings you are eligible for during the year.

  • Annual wellness visit—$30 reward
    Getting an annual wellness visit is one of the very best things you can do for your health. This important visit gives you the time you need to catch up with your doctor and create or update your personal care plan. We encourage you to reach out to your doctor and ask about your options for completing your annual wellness visit. Many doctors are now offering telehealth video visits, while others may prefer you come into the office. This is based on your needs and should be discussed with your doctor.
  • Diabetic retinal eye exam—$25 reward
  • Breast cancer screening—$50 reward
  • Colorectal cancer screening—$60 reward

Measures in place to keep you safe

Your providers should have safety measures in place so that you can get the in-person care you need without worry. Check with your doctor or provider directly. You can also visit our Medical Care and Advice page.

*A separate copay may apply if additional medical services are received during the same visit or if the member’s screening becomes diagnostic in nature. Members may have a copay for telehealth video visits. For information about coverage of preventive services, members should see their Evidence of Coverage.

UPMC for Life has a contract with Medicare to provide HMO, HMO SNP, and PPO plans. The HMO SNP plans have a contract with the PA State Medical Assistance program. Enrollment in UPMC for Life depends on contract renewal.
