Tummalapalli, MD, interventional cardiologist, UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, discusses how to explain the importance of early detection of coronary artery disease, as well as how to describe how early identification can reduce future cardiovascular events and identify appropriate first line medical therapy strategies for patients with asymptomatic stable ischemic heart disease.
Dr. Tummalapalli also explains how to differentiate between medical therapy, PCI, and CABG for stable ischemic heart disease and apply clinical judgment to determine which therapy is most appropriate in various patient scenarios.
