CME Webinar: First Annual Dr. Jim Withers Lecture

Apr. 2026Education/Webinars

Please join us for the First Annual Dr. Jim Withers Lecture, featuring Dr. Jim Withers, a global leader in compassionate, justice-centered care.

Dr. Withers is widely recognized as the founder of the street medicine movement. He is also the founder of the Street Medicine Institute, co-founder and Medical Director of Operation Safety Net, and core faculty at the Center for Street Medicine, University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences. His pioneering work has transformed how health systems engage with people experiencing homelessness- locally, nationally, and worldwide.

“Lessons from the Streets” will share firsthand stories from Dr. Withers’ experiences, highlighting how folks living on the streets became his greatest teachers and reshaped his understanding of health care and healing. This lecture honors his extraordinary legacy and ongoing impact on street medicine, education, and advocacy, as well as his role in mentoring and inspiring generations of students and clinicians- many of whom now lead programs across the United States and around the world.

The event will be hosted in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Health Sciences Center for Street Medicine, Street Medicine at Pitt, UPMC Shadyside Medicine Grand Rounds, and the Department of Family Medicine Grand Rounds.

Lunch (and a Pittsburgh cookie table!) will be provided, so we encourage everyone to attend and bring a friend!
