UPMC for Life Complete Care Shop Healthy Card

The UPMC for Life Complete Care (HMO D-SNP) Shop Healthy Card gives members additional allowances for covered over-the-counter (OTC) products, home safety products, healthy foods, and household utilities.* It works just like a prepaid debit card!

Here’s how it works:

At the start of each month, all UPMC for Life Complete Care members will have $60 added to their Shop Healthy Card.  

This $60 monthly allowance can be used for:

• OTC products—Members can use their card to buy OTC products at participating retail stores or order products through our mail-order catalog. Covered products include cold and allergy medicines, foot and leg care, digestive remedies, ear and eye care, vitamins, pain relievers, and more.
• Home safety products—Members can use their card to buy home safety products through our mail-order catalog. Some product options include a blood pressure monitor, nonslip bathmat, handheld shower, grab bar, motion sensor light, grabber/reacher tool, dressing stick, long-handled shoehorn, and nonskid socks. This is in addition to the home safety products benefit members get per year at no cost. 

UPMC for Life Complete Care members who qualify for Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI) will get two additional allowances added to their card each month for healthy foods and household utilities:

• Healthy foods*—Members can use their card to buy healthy foods at participating retail stores, like breads and healthy grains, fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and seafood.
• Household utilities*—Members can use their card to pay for covered household utilities, which include electric, gas, heating, sewage, trash, and water.

This card cannot be used to card to pay a landlord or to pay for rent, internet service, cell phone coverage, or cable or subscription streaming services.

At the end of each month, any unused dollars will expire. Allowances will not roll over from month to month.

*These benefits are part of the Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI) program. To be eligible, members must have an eligible chronic condition, meet the criteria for indicating risks for adverse health outcomes and care coordination needs, and qualify for Low-Income Subsidy (LIS). Members must have one of the following chronic illnesses: chronic/disabling mental health conditions, conditions with functional challenges, obesity, cardiovascular disorders, substance use disorders, diabetes, or other eligible conditions not listed.
