UPMC Health Plan Offers the Lowest Cost Silver Marketplace Plans in 38 Counties in Pennsylvania

Many members will see only modest cost increases in the 29 counties of Western Pa.

PITTSBURGH (Oct. 22, 2018) – UPMC Health Plan will once again offer the lowest cost Silver option on Pennsylvania’s Health Insurance Marketplace in all 29 counties that make up Western Pennsylvania and in nine additional counties across the Commonwealth. UPMC Health Plan is among the lowest cost health insurance plans in every county in which it offers individual coverage and has some of the lowest cost individual plans outside of the Marketplace as well. All plans offer in-network access to UPMC.

Open enrollment for 2018 begins on Nov. 1, 2018 and continues through Dec. 15, 2018. Plans sold during Open Enrollment start Jan. 1, 2019. UPMC Health Plan is offering nine plans in Western Pa with a variety of options in each of its Partner, Select, and Premium Networks. While plan offerings and network options vary by county, UPMC Health Plan’s Premium Network plans are available in all 47 counties within its service area.

UPMC Health Plan members also enjoy access to award-winning customer service with local customer service representatives who are knowledgeable and dedicated to answering members’ questions and solving issues with just one phone call.

Anyone who does not have insurance is encouraged to see if they qualify for financial assistance. Members who had a 2018 Marketplace insurance plan will receive two 2019 re-enrollment letters by Nov. 1, including one from UPMC Health Plan and one from the Health Insurance Marketplace. The Health Insurance Marketplace letter includes anything a member must do to get a premium tax credit for 2019, such as sending tax or income information.

Beginning Nov. 1, members can update their 2019 Marketplace application with any changes. If members don't log in, update their application and enroll in a plan by Dec. 15, 2018, they will be automatically enrolled in the 2019 plan that is most similar to their 2018 plan.

Power award for “Highest Member Satisfaction Among Commercial Health Plans in Pennsylvania, Three Years in a Row” (2016-2018) along withthree 2018 Gold Stevie Awards for outstanding sales and customer service.
