UPMC Health Plan Earns Three Prestigious Stevie Awards® for Customer Service

This marks the second consecutive year UPMC Health Plan has been recognized with three Gold Stevies; Medicare Telesales Team also recognized this year

PITTSBURGH (April 3, 2019) – The Stevie Awards recently announced that UPMC Health Plan has earned its top honors recognizing outstanding customer service.

For the second consecutive year, UPMC Health Plan was named the Gold Stevie Award winner in a total of three categories, including Best Medicare Telesales Team, Best Back-Office Customer Service Team, and Best Front-Line Customer Service Team, as part of the 13th annual Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Service ceremony held in Las Vegas.

More than 2,700 nominations from 45 countries were submitted to the Stevie Awards this year and UPMC Health Plan earned these top honors by beating out a field of national competitors. Previous awardees include Delta Air Lines, Kohl’s Department Stores, and OppenheimerFunds.

“Our award-winning member service and enrollment teams consistently provide best-in-class service and value to our 3.5 million UPMC Health Plan members,” said Mary Beth Jenkins, senior vice president and COO at UPMC Health Plan. “These awards highlight our culture of service and are further proof that we take great pride in our relationships with our members.”

“The UPMC Health Plan telesales teams provide useful information and assist Medicare beneficiaries with important decisions related to their health care,” said John Lovelace, president of government programs at UPMC Health Plan. “As a key component of our customer service strategy, our team members consistently demonstrate sensitivity and compassion for our Medicare members.”

The Stevie Awards are the world’s premier business awards. They were created in 2002 to honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and working professionals worldwide.

In addition to the three Gold Stevie Awards, UPMC Health Plan also earned five Silver Stevie Awards for customer service and three additional Bronze Awards, for a total of 11 Stevie Awards this year.

In 2018, UPMC Health Plan also received three Gold Stevie Awards, including Best Back-Office Customer Service Team, Best Use of Technology in Customer Service, and Best Telesales Team for its Medicare sales and service group. In 2017, UPMC Health Plan earned the Gold Stevie Award for large call center of the year in recognition of its Health Care Concierge program.

UPMC Health Plan has also been recognized by J.D. Power for three consecutive years (2016-18) as the “Highest Member Satisfaction among Commercial Health Plans in Pennsylvania.”
